Clearvision Glass Cleaner Questions Answered

ClearVision™ Glass Cleaner: Your Questions Answered

These are the questions that come up most often about ClearVision Glass Cleaner. Where we do not have a confirmed figure, we say so rather than guessing.

How do I use it?

Work on cool glass in shade. Spray onto a microfiber towel rather than the glass. Wipe in one direction, then buff dry with a second towel while the surface is still slightly damp.

Use vertical passes on the outside. Use horizontal passes on the inside. If a streak shows, the direction tells you which face it is on.

Can I use it on the inside of the windshield?

Yes, and you should clean it. The inside usually has the heaviest film. Your dashboard off-gasses in the heat. Those compounds condense on the glass.

Spray the cloth, not the glass, so you are not misting your dash and screens.

Will it streak?

Mainly, avoid applying in direct sun or on hot glass. It evaporates before you can spread it evenly. Work in shade, on cool glass. Buff dry while it is still slightly damp.

The other common cause is a single towel. You need a dry one to finish, or you are just moving wet film around.

Does it stop my windows fogging up?

It slows fogging noticeably, but it does not prevent it. Condensation is driven by temperature and humidity, not by the coating.

A clean, film-free surface gives moisture less to cling to, so fog tends to form later and clear more quickly. That is a genuine difference, but it is not the same as prevention.

How long does the water-repellent effect last?

This depends heavily on car usage. Daily highway miles, automatic washes, and road salt shorten it. This is compared with a garaged weekend car.

A practical indicator is easier than a number. When water sits in sheets, it's time to reapply. It should pull into beads instead.

Can I use it on side windows and mirrors?

Yes, side glass and wing mirrors benefit as much as the windshield. Arguably more, since most people never treat them. They are surfaces you rely on when changing lanes in the rain.

Does it work on anything other than car glass?

It works on the same problem wherever that problem occurs: mineral deposits and grease bonded to glass. Shower screens and glass cooktops are the two most common non-automotive uses.

Is it safe on tinted windows?

Ammonia degrades tint film over time. It is why household glass cleaner should not touch tinted glass.

If you have aftermarket tint and want certainty, check the ingredient list. Do this before applying it to the inside face. Test on a small area first. That advice holds for any glass product, not just ours.

Will it damage rain sensors, cameras or heated elements?

Modern windshields carry a lot of hardware — rain sensors, forward-facing camera housings, embedded heating elements, antenna wiring. Apply around the sensor housing rather than saturating it, and avoid soaking the seals at the edges of the glass.

Do I still need wipers?

Yes, beading reduces how hard your wipers work. At highway speed, the glass often clears itself. You still need functioning blades for slow traffic. They are also needed for stationary rain and heavy downpours.

Worn wipers will streak across treated glass just as they do untreated glass. If your blades are over a year old, replace them before judging any glass product.

How often should I reapply?

Watch the beading rather than the calendar. When water stops beading and starts sheeting, the coating has worn down. Cars that live outdoors, do high mileage, or go through frequent automatic washes will need it more often.
